A Note to Readers

Our cover photo of the Colorado River Aqueduct highlights an alarming report that the forecasts for the flow of the Colorado River this year have been too optimistic. Several stories on the topic will be found in this report.

Otherwise, January and February have been the driest two winter months in California history, and unless there is a “March miracle” of significant storms that breaks this pattern, then, we will be deep in a third year of drought.

That is seen clearly in this week’s U.S. Drought Monitor, presented in two maps. One compares the change in just one week’s time.

Last week we reported on the study that claimed that this drought, for the entire Southwest of the country, is the worst in 1200 years. For 57% of the U.S., the drought is already the worst in the past nine years.

Desperation is beginning to be apparent, especially as both the state and federal agencies that run the California State Water Project and the Central Valley Project have announced a maximum of 15% of requested amounts by water agencies, and 0% for most farmers.

Desperation can also be seen, ironically, in the report two days ago from Marin County that they did get some rain. That is 1/10 of an inch.

The insanity of California’s “climate change strategy is called out in an article I include this week: “Experts – once again — tell Senate panel that California’s key climate change strategy is flawed.”

The Feature this week: With the Russian military action to protect the newly self-declared independent nations of Donetsk and Lugansk in the Donbass region of Ukraine, whom the Ukrainian government military (especially the Nazi elements of it) has waged war for eight years, killing about 15,000 people, the following full article and an excerpt from a second article are too important to not present to my readers. The second important issue in this war is the U.S. and NATO refusal to even consider Russia’s national security concerns of having a heavily armed Ukraine right on Russia’s border. The articles are from LaRouche PAC, and are written by two of my colleagues.
